As the creator of Scaremail and writer of my stories, I stand behind my work and want you to have an enjoyable experience. This is a new and exciting way to experience a story, and I have thousands of satisfied readers all over the world. First and foremost this should be a source of enjoyment for you and anyone experiencing this for the first time. If you are not happy with your experience after the first two letters (or 30 days) I will issue you a full refund with no questions asked.

Additionally, this is designed to be a cohesive story experience. Getting every letter in order is important to me! Therefore, if a letter is missed, lost, stolen, or tattered just email me and I will happily resend the letter at no additional cost to you. 

How It Works

Perfect for that horror-lover or hard-to-buy-for friend, the Scaremail Gift Box allows the receiver to start the subscription immediately using a redemption code inside.

When the receiver is ready, they just need to enter the code at checkout, and their Scaremail will be free, and we'll send the second letter in *1-3 business days. (Letter 1 is already included, so they can start the story immediately)

Also included is David's Steel Bookmark and the official Scaremail Pen and Letter Opener set in your choice of black or red.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Scaremail Giftbox makes giving Scaremail easy. The box contains a code to redeem the prepaid story, Letter 1 of the story, and a Collectable Pen and Letter Opener set, plus a few more gifts from David. This box allows you to hand deliver Scaremail to the recipient or have it shipped directly to them. When ready, your recipient can activate the code online.

Simply add the story to the cart (be sure to select the letters only), and enter the code into the discount code section. The price will be reduced to 0.00.

After redemption, the recipient falls on a shipment date for the next and subsequent letters. Shipments are the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. Redeeming before that Friday will ensure their next letter is sent out with that shipment.

Yes! I do provide some additional content online for each story, but access to the internet is not required to participate in Scaremail.

Need to let someone know about their gift in the mail? Here's a Printable Gift Card. Just print, fold, and give/send it to them!

My general suggestion is 14+ but each child is different. Scaremail contains disturbing themes, imagery and descriptions. There is no abuse of any kind, child, animal or sexual. There is mild swearing. Minor drug and alcohol references.

The gift that keeps on giving!

This is by far one of the best gifts I've ever bought for anyone (and that's high prize because I am excellent at buying other people gifts lol)! I bought this for my horror mystery loving fiance and it's made it exciting to check the mailbox again! Even makes the accompanied bills less painful lol. And since we obviously live together, I get to enjoy it as well! For me, personally, I really appreciate the eye for detail in both story and design. My fiance really likes the style of writing (big Steven King fan). We are both avid readers and horror fans so we are used to binging a bunch of movies or series. The simple fact that you have to wait for your scaremail to arrive every 2 weeks, makes it so much more exciting! Just like when you had to wait for response back when we wrote loved ones real letters; the anticipation is real! And it feels so much more personal than a simple novel. All in all just a great gift to both buy and receive! We are hoping there will be more scaremail stories to sign up for in the future! The only tiny little issue I had is that my fiance was able to see exactly how much I spent on it as soon as he had to log in when he received his first letter. Not really a big deal for us but maybe some people would rather not have their recipient know how much they payed for their gift. A simple separate link could probably do the trick. Just a thought. Still recommending this to everyone and their mom! Awesome and unique concept (every horror writer wished they had come up with)!
